Turkish regional eco-tourism promotion
Overview
Local organizations and municipalities in Turkey are implementing various initiatives to promote regional eco-tourism and natural heritage through hiking and nature walks.
In Muş, the Genç Adımlar Association launched the ‘Adımlarla Keşfet Projesi’ (Discover with Steps Project) with support from the Ministry of Interior. This project has identified 20 hiking routes, such as the Kızılağaç Canyon and Sazlıkbaşı Nature Park, which are now available via digital platforms. Similarly, in Osmaniye, the local municipality scheduled a 5-kilometer nature walk in the Kengerli area designed for beginners.
In Bursa, the Yenişehir Municipality collaborated with the Balkan Immigrants Culture and Solidarity Association (BAL-GÖÇ) to host a 10-kilometer nature walk through İnegöl Tekkeköy and various ponds. Local officials noted that these efforts aim to integrate natural assets into tourism while highlighting rural neighborhoods.
