Uber Teens live video feature rollout in Latin America

Overview

Uber has expanded its safety features for the Uber Teens service in Latin America by introducing live video monitoring capabilities.

In late September 2026, the company launched the feature in Mexico, allowing parents and guardians to view real-time video from a vehicle’s interior via the app’s Family Profile. This tool integrates with existing safety protocols, including audio recording and RideCheck, and provides a way to transmit images to Uber’s support team during emergencies.

Following the Mexican launch, Uber introduced the same technological update in Colombia in October 2026. The feature allows guardians of adolescents aged 14 to 17 to access a live stream through the driver’s mobile device. While the video feed is subject to cellular data stability, users can still utilize GPS tracking and group chat functions if the stream is interrupted. In both regions, the live stream is restricted to the linked guardian and terminates automatically upon trip completion, though recordings may be accessed for incident reports.
