Ubisoft has announced a full remake of the 1999 strategy classic, ‘Heroes of Might and Magic III’, scheduled for a 2027 release. Developed by Ubisoft studios in Chengdu, Shanghai, Paris, and Montpellier using the Snowdrop engine, the project will transition the game from a 2D isometric perspective to a 3D environment featuring a free camera, 4K resolution, dynamic lighting, and real-time weather effects.

The remake is intended to preserve core turn-based gameplay, RPG hero progression, and tactical combat. It will include the base game along with the ‘Armageddon’s Blade’ and ‘The Shadow of Death’ expansions, all integrated into a continuous narrative that includes a new prologue and epilogue. The title will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and will support classic community-created maps and mods. New features include simultaneous turns in online matches and availability through Ubisoft+.

Prague-based CGI animation studio All Animal Studio has contributed to the project by developing ten narrative in-game cinematics for the ‘Restoration of Erathia’ campaign. This work, totaling approximately three minutes and 42 seconds of footage, involved transitioning characters like Queen Catherine from 2D art to realistic 3D models. The studio utilized techniques such as optical camera behavior and film color grading to modernize the setting. Initial footage of these cinematics was showcased during the Opening Night Live event at Gamescom.
