UEFA Champions League 2026‑27 reforms

In July 2026 UEFA detailed the financial framework for the expanded 2026‑27 Champions League, unveiling a €2.5 billion prize pool split among a starting quota, performance bonuses and a “value pillar” tied to TV‑rights and historic rankings. The allocation provides each of the 36 group‑stage entrants with an advance payment of €17.87 million plus match‑day bonuses, while further sums reward progression through the knockout stages.

A few weeks later UEFA announced the date of the league‑phase draw, set for 27 August 2026 in Nyon, Switzerland. The draw will determine the eight‑match schedule for each club in the new format, with seeding pots and a pathway to the knockout phase. The participant list includes six English, five Spanish, and four clubs each from Germany, Italy and France, with Italian sides Inter, Napoli, Roma and debutants Como confirmed.
