Overview

Ukrainian forces have conducted a successful military operation in the Oleksandrivka sector, spanning the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the offensive recaptured 745 square kilometers of territory and liberated 26 settlements previously occupied by Russian forces since June 2025.

Ukrainian officials claim the operation resulted in significant Russian casualties, estimating nearly 10,000 deaths. While the open-source group DeepState corroborated some gains, they noted that much of the reclaimed area remains a contested ‘grey zone.’

In addition to territorial advances, Ukraine has targeted Russian infrastructure, including a naval base in Novorossiysk and grain terminals in the Krasnodar region. Concurrently, Russia has intensified aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities such as Kyiv, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia using drones and missiles, causing power outages and civilian deaths. As the conflict persists, discussions regarding potential new military mobilisation are increasing within Russia.
