Un mare di inclusione marine project in Italy

Overview

The national project ‘Un mare di inclusione. Ogni goccia conta’ (A sea of inclusion. Every drop counts) has been implemented across different Italian coastal regions to promote marine biodiversity accessibility for people with disabilities.

In the Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area, the initiative utilized digital boards, multimedia tools, and VR headsets at the Pelagos Sea Museum to allow participants to virtually explore underwater landscapes. This stage was promoted by Ambiente Mare Italia (AMI) and supported by the Italian Ministry for Disabilities.

In Tuscany, the project continued at Marina di Cecina, where participants engaged in sensory activities in coastal pine forests and learned about marine turtle life cycles and nesting needs. This stage involved collaboration with biologists from TartAmare and local organizations to provide social connection through direct contact with nature.
