UN-Senegal strategic and institutional partnership
Overview
United Nations agencies are expanding their cooperation with the Senegalese government to support various social, judicial, and administrative reforms.
Initial efforts focused on specific sectoral improvements. UNICEF engaged with the Prime Minister to address priorities for children, including education, health, and protection. Simultaneously, the UNDP worked with the Minister of Justice on digital transformations of the judicial system, such as the overhaul of the Pikine-Guédiawaye courthouse and the enhancement of e-Justice systems.
This partnership has progressed toward strengthening the UN’s physical and strategic presence in the country. Following an agreement signed in June 2026, the government and the UN are moving forward with the Maison des Nations Unies (MONUD) in Diamniadio, which is designated to serve as the new headquarters for various UN entities to improve multilateral cooperation.
