Unauthorized fireworks incident in Mesagne
Overview
Following an unauthorized fireworks display in the historic center of Mesagne during a birthday celebration in late August, legal and administrative actions have been taken against those involved.
A 30-year-old man was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Brindisi and faces charges for “dangerous ignition and explosions in a public place without the required license,” with aggravating factors noted due to the high number of people present.
In response to the incident, authorities also suspended the license of a local establishment for five days. The Questore enacted this preventive measure under Article 100 of the TULPS to protect public order and safety, after investigations revealed that business owners failed to intervene or contact law enforcement to stop the pyrotechnics despite the risks posed to the crowd.
