United States extradition operations
Overview
The United States has conducted several extradition operations involving fugitives wanted for various transnational crimes.
In one operation, seven individuals were extradited to Colombia following a five year investigation into a criminal network accused of drug trafficking and money laundering. This group allegedly targeted New York, Florida, and Puerto Rico for narcotics shipments.
In a separate instance, the United States handed over six fugitives to Mexican authorities. These individuals are wanted for offenses including homicide, rape, child sexual abuse, and membership in a transnational criminal organization. One individual, Octavio Jorge Cortés Jiménez, was intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard near San Diego in connection with an attempted feminicide in Mexico City.
