Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure redevelopment

Overview

Universal Orlando Resort is redeveloping the Lost Continent area at Islands of Adventure, a section of the park in operation since 1999. Demolition activity has increased, particularly around the former Sinbad stunt theater, following the 2023 permanent closure of Poseidon’s Fury.

While Universal Destinations & Experiences has not officially announced what will replace the land, the redevelopment has sparked significant speculation regarding new themed environments. Initial rumors suggested a potential ‘The Legend of Zelda’ themed area, coinciding with updates from Nintendo regarding a live-action film. More recent speculation points toward a Pokémon-themed area, potentially featuring a family-friendly roller coaster or a dark ride inspired by Pokémon Snap, following a global partnership between Universal and The Pokémon Company.
