Universidad de Colima academic and administrative updates
Overview
The Universidad de Colima has initiated several administrative and academic developments. The institution established an evaluation committee to review twenty-eight complete dossiers for ten senior-level full-time professor positions across disciplines including Digital Business, Nursing, Engineering Technologies, and Physiotherapy.
In parallel, the university is working to update its academic curriculum, specifically launching a forum to restructure the Chemical Analyst Technician program to align with current disciplinary advances. Furthermore, the law faculty journal, De Jure, has entered the second stage of evaluation to join the National System of Scientific and Humanistic Publications under the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti).
As the university prepares for the new academic cycle beginning August 17, Rector Christian Torres Ortiz Zermeño led a coordination meeting with over 380 officials to manage rising student demand and the implementation of the ‘Mi ColiBeca para el Futuro’ program, which provides state-funded enrollment support. Due to highway complications on the Colima-Manzanillo route, the university is also reactivating a hybrid learning model for the Tecomán campus. The evaluation of the De Jure journal continues through a qualitative analysis of editorial content to determine its level of consolidation within the Secihti framework.
