Universidad Interamericana community health initiatives

Overview

Universidad Interamericana has implemented several community health and wellness initiatives in Pedro Juan Caballero.

In late August, the university conducted a health extension project providing medical assistance and clinical evaluations to approximately 150 students from local primary schools. Medical students performed clinical inspections and electrocardiograms to meet requirements set by the Paraguayan Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Education and Sciences.

Following this, in late September, the university organized the ‘Carrera por el Mes de la Juventud’ (Youth Month Run) near Laguna Punta Porã. The event aimed to promote health and community integration, involving medical students and hundreds of participants. The university provided medical ambulances, hydration stations, and nutritional support, such as free water and fruit, to encourage healthy habits in the border region.
