UNCa and regional actors prepare for Expo Catamarca 2026

Overview

The Universidad Nacional de Catamarca (UNCa) has engaged in several institutional initiatives involving academic mobility and regional economic integration. Initially, the university welcomed international exchange students from Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and the United States to participate in programs within the faculties of Humanities, Economics, Administration, and Law.

Preparations are now advancing for Expo Catamarca 2026, scheduled for September 10–12 at the Predio Ferial Catamarca. Organized by the Federación Económica de Catamarca (FEC) in collaboration with the provincial government, the event operates under the theme ‘Connecting Regions, Generating Future.’ UNCa is coordinating academic participation through seminars on innovation, leadership, tourism, mining, and regional economies to strengthen ties between the academic community and the private sector.

The exhibition will feature specialized pavilions for industry, logistics, and mining, alongside business rounds designed to connect local SMEs and entrepreneurs with national and international buyers. A binational integration panel will also focus on trade with Chile via the San Francisco Pass. The agenda includes conferences on macroeconomics and artificial intelligence, as well as the presentation of the first Open Geological-Mining Data System of Catamarca. The attendance of National Secretary of Tourism, Environment, and Sports Daniel Scioli is expected.

In conjunction with the event, the Ministry of Productive Development has organized ‘Expo Oportunidades’ within the Regional Economies pavilion. Coordinated with the Commercial Union of Catamarca (UCC), this initiative includes 26 stands for local merchants to showcase clothing and footwear, aiming to boost local consumption and provide SMEs with a platform to increase visibility and liquidate seasonal stock.
