University of Colima agricultural science initiatives

Overview

The University of Colima has been involved in significant agricultural scientific and policy initiatives. In mid-August, Dr. José Manuel Palma García, a researcher from the university, participated in national workshops organized by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) and The Nature Conservancy. These workshops aimed to establish a scientific and technical reference framework for sustainable cattle ranching in Mexico to inform future public policy and market schemes.

Later in August, the university’s Tecomán campus hosted the XXVIII International Congress and LIII National Congress of the Mexican Society of Phytopathology. The event, themed ‘Diagnosis and monitoring: knowledge applied to the field,’ brought together international specialists and local producers to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical agricultural needs.
