University of Nebraska fundraising and institutional growth

The University of Nebraska Foundation reported record-breaking private donations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The total exceeded $532.8 million, marking the first time annual fundraising surpassed the $500 million threshold. These funds, supported by over 58,000 donors, are largely restricted to specific projects, with major allocations directed toward the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska Athletics, and the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Following this financial milestone, University of Nebraska System President Jeffrey Gold delivered his second annual State of the University Address. Gold cited the record charitable giving as a sign of strength for the system. He also highlighted other institutional achievements, including joint accreditation between UNL and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, a new governance structure for Nebraska Medicine, and the establishment of the Atomically Engineered Materials Center at UNL via an $18 million National Science Foundation grant.
