Urban engagement and exploration in Rome neighborhoods

Overview

Rome is implementing various initiatives to engage with its peripheral neighborhoods and promote urban exploration outside the traditional city center.

The eighth Rome Architecture Festival is expanding its reach into Municipalities IV and V through installations, workshops, and community programs. Projects such as ‘MAMMAROMA’ and ‘NODO APERTO’ aim to transform public spaces into areas for social interaction, utilizing neighborhood mapping and activities focused on urban microclimates.

Complementing these efforts, new urban itinerary projects titled ‘Fuori Centro’ and ‘Linea C’ have been launched. ‘Fuori Centro’ utilizes gastronomy to explore districts like Torre Maura and Primavalle through local markets and artisan workshops. Meanwhile, the ‘Linea C’ project uses the metro line to connect the city’s archaeological center with eastern peripheral districts, including Pigneto and Grotte Celoni, through scheduled walks.
