Urban mobility initiatives in Czech cities
Overview
Czech municipalities are implementing various initiatives to enhance urban mobility and promote sustainable transport alternatives.
In Prague, transit authorities are updating metro information panels with higher-contrast graphics and testing extended countdown timers to improve passenger visibility. Concurrently, the town of Třebíč hosted an exhibition titled ‘Living Cities of the Future’ to explore modern urbanism, focusing on shared public spaces and sustainable infrastructure.
To mark International Car Free Day, several cities are hosting events to encourage the use of public transportation. In Zlín, Otrokovice, and Želechovice nad Dřevnicí, public transport will be free of charge, with temporary suspensions of ticket inspections and SMS ticketing systems. In Příbram, the fifth City Mobility Day includes free transit, historical bus and train services, and educational activities for children to promote alternatives to individual car travel.
