Urban renewal and local incidents in Arnavutköy
Overview
Arnavutköy has been undergoing an urban renewal initiative managed by the municipal subsidiary ARKENT AŞ. This project aims to replace aging building stocks with earthquake-resistant housing, having initiated the transformation of 2,200 units over a two-year period. Recent activities included the evacuation and demolition of structures in the İmrahor neighborhood.
In a separate incident in the Merkez neighborhood, a fire broke out in the attic of a five-story building. Due to strong winds, the fire spread to an adjacent roof, necessitating the evacuation of residents by firefighting teams. Four individuals received hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.
