U.S. citizens prosecuted for crimes in Haiti

Overview

Recent federal legal actions have targeted U.S. citizens accused of committing sexual crimes against minors in Haiti.

In September 2026, Jeriah Mast of Ohio pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with minors. Prosecutors noted that Mast traveled from the United States to Haiti numerous times between 2002 and 2019 while associated with the religious organization Christian Aid Ministries.

Later that month, Maylon Jesse Foshee of Louisiana was arrested by the FBI following an investigation into his conduct while working with Agape Ministries in Gonaïves, Haiti, between 2023 and 2025. The investigation, which included interviews in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, identified at least three male victims. Foshee was ordered to be held pending arraignment in federal court.
