US law enforcement undercover child exploitation stings

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in the United States have conducted several undercover sting operations targeting the sexual exploitation of minors and online child predators.

In Aurora, the SAFE Kids operation resulted in the arrest of 13 suspects following investigations into websites used for human trafficking and internet luring. Detectives used undercover minor-aged personas to engage suspects, some of whom reportedly re-engaged with officers after initially realizing the persona was a minor. In Bend, a 47-year-old man was arrested after a 16-year-old reported being approached regarding babysitting.

In central Indiana, a three-day operation led by the Hamilton County Internet Crimes Against Children Metro Task Force resulted in the arrest of eleven men between September 22 and September 24. Investigators reported that suspects traveled to the Westfield area to meet individuals they believed were young girls. The arrested individuals, residing in locations including Indianapolis, Carmel, Logansport, and Irving, Texas, face charges ranging from child solicitation to the dissemination of harmful material to minors.
