Prominent names under consideration include former Union Minister Smriti Irani, former MP Varun Gandhi, and National General Secretary Harish Dwivedi. The party is also considering candidates from various social groups, such as Jats, Rajputs, OBCs, and minorities, as part of a broader strategy for the 2027 assembly elections. The final selection will be made by the BJP’s Central Election Committee in Delhi.

Political tensions have intensified regarding the seat count. The NDA, holding 294 of the 397 active assembly members, is positioned to secure seven seats easily, with an eighth seat remaining uncertain. The Samajwadi Party (SP), in alliance with the Congress, possesses 103 MLAs, allowing them to secure two seats.

SP leader Ravidass Mehrotra suggested that internal dissatisfaction within the BJP could allow the SP to win three seats, noting that final candidate decisions rest with party president Akhilesh Yadav. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya dismissed these efforts, asserting the BJP will form the government in 2027. Maurya indicated the BJP is prepared to field up to eight candidates and suggested that if the SP fields a third candidate, the BJP may field a ninth to counter them.
