Valencia Airport passenger fee in Venezuela

Overview

In late July 2026 the Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia, Carabobo, announced a new Specialized Passenger Operational Facilitation Service (SEFOP) charge. Passengers on domestic flights are required to pay €5 and those on international routes €25, with the fee collected in bolívares at the official exchange rate. Children under two, transit passengers and other exempt categories are not subject to the charge.

Two days later the airport clarified implementation details: the fee applies to tickets issued before 23 July 2026, with later tickets including it automatically, and it will remain in force for one year under administrative provision P‑2026/002. The measure follows a sharp rise in traffic after the 24 June earthquakes forced the closure of Maiquetía’s main airport, boosting daily passengers by about 120 % and prompting the opening of additional halls to handle the surge. The fee is expected to generate roughly €54,000 per day, with 60 % of flights now international.
