Valencian Community DANA recovery efforts
Overview
Following the DANA floods, the Generalitat Valenciana has implemented various economic and social recovery initiatives under the ‘Plan Endavant’.
In early October, the regional government launched the ‘Bono Hostelería 2026’ program, a 3.9 million euro initiative managed by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana to support the hospitality sector in 103 affected municipalities. The program allows registered adults to reclaim 50% of their spending at participating bars, cafes, and restaurants, up to 50 euros per person. To qualify, individual transactions must be between 20 and 100 euros and paid via bank card. The initiative aims to benefit over 78,000 people.
By mid-October, recovery efforts expanded to include social well-being and infrastructure. The Generalitat Valenciana granted a 500,000 euro subsidy to the Consorcio Esportshorta to support local sports development and facility resilience. On October 21, the government approved an initial 23.5 million euro aid package for victims in the Safor and Marina Alta regions, providing monthly benefits for those who lost primary residences and subsidies for household goods. President Juanfran Pérez Llorca stated the process would be “agile and simple.”
As of late October, recovery efforts have expanded to include broader commercial stimulus. While the ‘Bono Hostelería 2026’ program continues to see high demand in areas like Torrent, Algemesí, and Catarroja, local municipalities have introduced additional vouchers. In Gandia, ‘Xec Consum’ vouchers were fully exhausted within five hours of release. Castellón has issued commercial vouchers in denominations of 10, 25, 50, and 100 euros, while the Diputación de Valencia is promoting the ‘Bono Comercio 2026’ to assist small and medium-sized enterprises.
