Valley Heights stabbing investigation

Overview

On Sunday, September 20, 2026, emergency services responded to a stabbing incident on Waratah Road in Valley Heights, located in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales. The incident occurred around 12:45 pm inside a vehicle near a tourist area. Bystanders who witnessed the scene provided initial first aid to the victims before paramedics arrived.

The victims included a woman in her 40s and three children. One child, believed to be under five years of age, died at the scene. The remaining two children and the woman were transported to Westmead Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where they remain in critical condition.

NSW Police have established a crime scene and launched a domestic-related homicide investigation. Authorities have identified the woman as the alleged suspect in the attack. While homicide investigators remain at the scene, police stated they are “not looking for any other people at this time.” Police have appealed to the public for any dashcam or phone footage from the area to assist with the investigation.
