Valmarecchia social welfare service expansions

The Unione dei Comuni della Valmarecchia has implemented several social welfare initiatives to support elderly and vulnerable residents in the region.

Initially, the Unione dei Comuni allocated 10,000 euros from the regional fund for non-self-sufficiency to expand home meal delivery services. This project, targeting Santarcangelo di Romagna and Sant’Agata Feltria, aims to increase the number of users from 15 to 21 by the end of 2026. The service, which utilizes local schools and volunteer associations, also functions as a welfare check to monitor isolation in remote areas.

Following this, the Unione dei Comuni allocated 42,500 euros to establish an on-demand social transport service. Supported by 15,000 euros from the regional fund for non-self-sufficiency, this service is designed to help residents in the Alta Valmarecchia region—including Casteldelci, Maiolo, Novafeltria, Pennabilli, San Leo, Sant’Agata Feltria, Talamello, and Montecopiolo—access medical visits and therapies. Managed by the Novafeltria committee of the Italian Red Cross, the service provides door-to-door accompaniment to assist families in dispersed mountain communities.
