Vandalism during Lillestrøm and Vålerenga football derby
Overview
Following a 2-0 derby defeat at Åråsen Stadium, Vålerenga supporters engaged in significant vandalism against Lillestrøm SK. The damage included destroyed toilets, torn-off seats, damaged LED advertising boards, and pitch harm caused by pyrotechnics.
Lillestrøm management indicated they would hold Vålerenga responsible for repair costs. Vålerenga manager Svein Graff apologized for the behavior, characterizing the actions as “low-level” and stating they did not represent the entire fan base.
In response to the incident, Vålerenga announced strict measures and a zero-tolerance policy. The club is working to identify individuals for potential supporter bans and is in discussions with Lillestrøm regarding compensation. The matter is also being reviewed by the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) and a prosecution committee.
