Vandalism of Democratic Party offices in Italy

Overview

A series of incidents targeting the Democratic Party (PD) in Italy has been reported. In late August, the party flag was stolen from the headquarters in Castelfranco di Sopra, leaving the flagpole bent. Party Secretary Stefania Pini condemned the act, noting that whether it was a prank or a political message, it was a serious matter.

In early September, the situation escalated with the vandalism of the PD headquarters in Rome’s Trionfale district. Local secretary Enzo Foschi reported that the party sign was torn down and the premises were defaced with stickers and writings containing fascist and Nazi symbols. Nicola Zingaretti, the party’s head of delegation to the European Parliament, expressed solidarity with the local branch, stating that such intimidation would not halt their political commitment.
