Venezuela emergency response and personnel recognition

Overview

Following a double earthquake in La Guaira on June 24, Venezuelan authorities recognized the efforts of emergency responders. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez awarded the ‘Héroes y Heroínas de Venezuela’ order to the Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (ABAE) for using satellite imagery to assist search and rescue operations. Additionally, the state oil company PDVSA honored firefighters and its Emergency Response and Control Brigade for their logistical and rescue support on the central coast.

During the 89th anniversary of the National Directorate General of Firefighters, Vice Minister for Risk Management Juan Carlos Oti Paituvi announced the promotion of 2,807 firefighters based on merit. The ceremony highlighted the integration of forest, urban, marine, and aeronautical firefighters working with Civil Protection and the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB), while also reviewing recent responses to seismic events.
