At the FAO World Food Forum in Rome, Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announced the ‘Plan Venezuela Alimenta,’ a strategic initiative designed to coordinate national productive processes to achieve ‘zero hunger’ by 2030.
Rodríguez detailed plans to present a new local economy law to the Venezuelan National Assembly. This legislation intends to integrate communal, community, and entrepreneurial economies with large-scale agro-industrial sectors to bolster food sovereignty. She reported that national agro-industrial capacity has risen from 63%–66% in 2021 to 78% in 2025.
During the forum, Rodríguez met with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu to request technical cooperation for the plan and to discuss national nutritional protection programs. Qu Dongyu addressed global food security, noting that while technology exists to solve hunger, the primary challenge remains the failure to adopt proven solutions at scale.
