Venezuela Saime identity document updates

The Administrative Service of Identification, Migration, and Foreigners (Saime) has implemented new procedures and fee structures for identity documents in Venezuela.

Initially, Saime launched an online renewal process for identity cards. This digital system allows citizens and registered foreigners to log in via a web portal to verify personal data, update physical characteristics, and register residential addresses. The process includes a scheduling component where users select a specific office and date, generating a digital form required for their appointment.

Subsequently, Saime updated the pricing and delivery protocols for Venezuelan passports. Fees are tied to the daily Central Bank of Venezuela exchange rate and are categorized by the applicant’s age. Ordinary passports, with an 8 to 15 business day delivery window, cost between $108 and $216. Express ‘habilitado’ passports, delivered within 48 hours, range from $290 to $350. The agency also introduced provisions allowing direct family members to collect passports on behalf of others, provided they present specific documentation.
