Venezuela science and technology development

Overview

Venezuela is implementing several initiatives to strengthen its national science, technology, and research infrastructure. The National Observatory of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Oncti) launched a dissemination campaign for the Venezuelan Registry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Recitven). This registry aims to unify technical criteria and create a strategic tool for evidence-based decision-making by mapping human talent and material resources.

Complementing these administrative efforts, the government is focusing on scientific training and facility oversight. In Anzoátegui, Fundacite initiated intensive training for students qualifying for the national phase of the 2026 Venezuelan Nanotechnology Olympiads. Additionally, the Minister of Science and Technology inspected various research facilities at the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), while announcing upcoming research project calls specifically targeting female scientists.
