Venezuela transport infrastructure and service management
Overview
The Venezuelan government has taken steps to centralize and regulate transport infrastructure and services. In Carabobo, the national government reassumed control of the Arturo Michelena International Airport and the General Bartolomé Salom Airport from the state government. Under Official Gazette No. 43.443, the state-run entity Bolivariana de Aeropuertos (BAER) assumed management of all assets, including runways, passenger areas, and commercial spaces.
Concurrently, authorities are addressing operational issues at various passenger terminals. In Yaracuy, local officials and the National Institute of Land Transport (INTT) met to improve terminal organization, security, and route compliance. In Táchira, workers at the San Antonio del Táchira terminal have called for the reactivation of interurban border routes that were suspended in April 2024 following road collapses, noting that the continued suspension has forced vehicles to load in public streets rather than within terminal facilities.
