Veracruz public transportation modernization program
Overview
The Government of Veracruz has initiated a public transportation modernization program to improve mobility and connectivity across several regions. The program includes the introduction of new services such as Atenas in Xalapa, Totonaco in Poza Rica, and Papaloapan in Carlos A. Carrillo and Cosamaloapan.
In Poza Rica, the first buses for the Servicio Totonaco network have arrived. This fleet consists of 40 vehicles intended to serve the conurbated areas of Poza Rica, Coatzintla, and Tihuatlán through three strategic routes connecting residential, industrial, and educational sectors. Fares for the service are established at 13 pesos for prepaid card users and 15 pesos for cash payments. While the units are on-site, an official start date for passenger service has not yet been announced.
