Veracruz state public transportation expansion
Overview
Governor Rocío Nahle García has initiated a series of new public transportation services across Veracruz involving hybrid bus fleets.
On October 16, the Totonaco service was inaugurated in Poza Rica. This project utilized 210 million pesos to deploy 40 hybrid buses across three routes, connecting residential, educational, medical, and commercial areas. The service operates from 05:00 to 21:00 with a 15 peso fare via prepaid cards, following an initial three day free period.
On October 29, the Papaloapan service was launched to serve over 60,000 users in the Carlos A. Carrillo and Cosamaloapan regions. This phase utilizes six Yutong hybrid buses operating on three routes: La Noria, La Colina, and Tecnológico. Similar to the Poza Rica rollout, the service offered free trips initially before transitioning to a prepaid card model. The government also announced plans for a mobile application to provide real-time travel and schedule information.
