Veradermics VDPHL01 clinical trial results
Overview
Veradermics, a Connecticut-based dermatological company, reported positive results from Phase III clinical trials for VDPHL01, an experimental oral pill designed to treat mild to moderate androgenetic alopecia in men. The medication uses a patented extended-release gel matrix to deliver minoxidil steadily, aiming to improve efficacy and reduce cardiovascular risks associated with rapid blood level spikes.
In a randomized, double-blind study of 536 men over six months, participants receiving two daily doses saw an average increase of 36.4 hairs per square centimeter, compared to 6.6 in the placebo group. Between 78.8% and 85% of treated participants reported visible improvement. While the drug was generally well-tolerated with no serious adverse events reported, researchers noted that long-term safety requires further verification. If approved by the FDA, VDPHL01 would be the first oral pill authorized for this condition in nearly 30 years. Following the initial announcement, Veradermics shares rose nearly 10% on the New York Stock Exchange.
