Victorian election road infrastructure pledges

Overview

Political parties in Victoria have introduced competing road infrastructure funding pledges as part of their election platforms.

The Victorian Labor Party committed $237 million for Stage 1 of the Bellarine Link in Geelong and $57 million for Murradoc Road upgrades in Drysdale. Additionally, the party pledged $270 million to upgrade 3.6km of Findon Road in the City of Whittlesea to alleviate congestion.

In response to infrastructure needs, the Coalition pledged $607 million to upgrade and extend Thompsons Road. The Outer Melbourne Councils (OMC) supported this commitment, stating the project is a “critical priority” for the south-east to support freight and industrial growth. The OMC has called on the Victorian Government to match this commitment.
