The video game industry is experiencing a dual focus on commercial development strategies and the long-term preservation of digital and physical media.

Market trends show an increasing reliance on remakes and remasters. This shift is driven by the high financial risks of AAA titles, which can exceed $300 million, leading companies to favor established intellectual properties over new concepts. Bruna Simões, CEO of Thunder Games, noted that the high cost of large-scale launches makes the uncertainty of new ideas less attractive than the guaranteed consumer base of existing franchises.

In terms of development philosophy, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki stated that his studio avoids fixed formulas to prevent games from becoming repetitive, allowing for reinvention with each project.

Simultaneously, the issue of game preservation has become a central topic. While digital distribution is widespread, institutions like the Library of Congress emphasize the need to preserve source code and original hardware. Industry veteran Hideki Kamiya has also urged intellectual property holders to ensure titles remain playable for future generations, regardless of whether they are distributed via physical discs or digital formats.
