Vietnam-China cross-border tourism cooperation

Overview

Tuyen Quang province in Vietnam and Wenshan prefecture in China’s Yunnan province are strengthening cross-border tourism cooperation. The partnership focuses on linking tour routes and leveraging shared natural and cultural assets, specifically utilizing the Thanh Thuy–Tianbao international border gate.

Key destinations targeted through this cooperation include the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark and the Lung Cu National Flagpole. Under a 2026 agenda, the two regions are exchanging information on market policies, tourism products, and cultural heritage preservation to facilitate visitor movement.

In the first eight months of 2026, Tuyen Quang recorded over 2.8 million tourist arrivals, representing 70.3% of its annual target. This included 519,409 international visitors, with total tourism spending exceeding 7.88 trillion VND.
