Vietnam counterfeit luxury goods crackdown

Entities: Công ty TNHH Phú Quốc Factory · Phú Quốc Factory · An Giang Province Police · Phú Quốc · Phạm Thị Kim Xuyến

Overview

In late July 2026 Vietnamese police intensified actions against illicit luxury‑goods operations. On 22 July, authorities in Thanh Hóa province dismantled an online network that manufactured counterfeit perfumes bearing Chanel, Gucci and Dior marks and sold them via the Shopee platform, detaining 13 suspects from several regions and charging most with producing and selling fake goods.

A week later, on 30 July, police in An Giang province expanded the investigation to a larger scheme centred on Phú Quốc. The operation, led by Phạm Thị Kim Xuyến, imported and sold counterfeit luxury handbags and wallets from brands such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. More than 350 fake items worth over VND 1 billion were seized, and Xuyến voluntarily surrendered.

Further details released on 30 July reveal that Xuyến, born in 1997, invested over VND 5 billion to set up the business, registered a front company called Công ty TNHH Phú Quốc Factory, and appointed Trần Thị Thanh Nguyên as the nominal head. The investigation, which began in August 2025, has broadened to identify additional participants and is proceeding under Article 226 of the Criminal Code for industrial‑property infringement.

These coordinated actions show Vietnamese law‑enforcement targeting counterfeit luxury‑goods production and distribution across multiple provinces and sales channels, moving from online perfume fakes to a high‑value handbag trafficking network.
