Vietnam crackdown on fraudulent health and beauty services
Overview
In late July 2026 Vietnamese authorities intensified actions against illegal health‑related businesses. In Lạng Sơn province, police charged Hoàng Trọng Ngẻn, who operated the Anh Đức dental clinic without licensed dentists, impersonated a doctor, and defrauded patients of an estimated VND 400 million. He was charged under article 198 for fraud.
Separately, the Hưng Yên Provincial Police concluded an investigation into Nguyen Dinh Duc, director of a beauty clinic, and two accomplices who fabricated occupational certificates for clients seeking tax registration or business licences. The scheme generated about VND 107.8 million, and the suspects were referred for prosecution under article 341 for producing false official documents. Both cases illustrate a broader governmental effort to curb fraudulent credential services and unlicensed medical or cosmetic operations in Vietnam.
