Vietnam Cung Viet Nam tien buoc walking program
Overview
Vietnam is preparing for the ‘Cung Viet Nam tien buoc’ (Walking with Vietnam) program in 2026, a nationwide initiative organized by Báo Nhân Dân in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security. The campaign is designed to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day on September 2, and the traditional day of the Vietnam People's Public Security.
Local provinces, including Quang Tri and Thanh Hoa, are coordinating logistics for large-scale gatherings and simultaneous flag-raising ceremonies to foster patriotism and community health. The 2026 program aims to reach a goal of 10 billion steps, building upon a 2025 campaign that recorded over 6 billion steps.
Beyond physical fitness, the initiative promotes a ‘green lifestyle’ to support Net Zero goals by encouraging environmentally friendly movement. Participants can engage through physical walking or via an online portal. Additionally, the campaign includes charitable components, such as a mechanism to support disadvantaged students through the ‘Cung em tien buoc’ initiative.
