In early August 2026, Vietnamese technology experts issued a warning about the practical limits of wireless charging. They noted that phones must remain flat on the pad, charging speeds are slower than wired options even at 25 W, and the process generates significant heat—about 30 % of the input energy is lost, which can accelerate battery wear. The same briefing also advised laptop buyers to ensure a sufficient mix of ports, recommending at least three USB‑C ports, two USB‑A ports, and an HDMI connection, with additional options such as DisplayPort, headphone jacks, microSD slots and Thunderbolt 4/USB4 for greater versatility.

The next day, the guidance was expanded to address overnight charging of smartphones. Experts cautioned that keeping a phone plugged in through the night subjects the battery to many small charge cycles and sustained heat, both of which shorten lithium‑ion cell lifespan and raise safety risks. They recommended unplugging the charger once the battery reaches a sufficient level, using only original or certified accessories, and placing the device on a ventilated surface to minimise overheating. Together, the two briefings form a consistent set of recommendations aimed at preserving battery health and ensuring safe, efficient device use in Vietnam.
