Vietnam pursues foreign investment and development ties
Entities: Anne Aly · Vietnam · Australia · Ngô Văn Tuấn · Australian Government
Overview
In late June 2026 Vietnam adopted Resolution 10‑NQ/TW, a policy move aimed at attracting foreign investment and strengthening defence cooperation.
By the end of July, Vietnam’s finance minister met with Australia’s international development minister in Hanoi to deepen the bilateral development partnership. Australia pledged roughly A$98 million for the 2026‑27 year, targeting energy, trade, transport, climate‑resilient infrastructure and broader private‑sector growth. The talks underscored Vietnam’s goal of sustaining annual economic growth above 10 percent and advancing toward upper‑middle‑income status by 2030, while also expanding legislative and trade links with Australia.
