Overview

Vietnam is undertaking several major road infrastructure projects and tolling system updates.

On the Can Tho - Ca Mau section of the North-South Expressway, the Vietnam Road Administration has delayed the start of toll collection, which was originally scheduled for September 15, 2026. The delay is due to ongoing technical improvements, including addressing road subsidence at bridge approaches and culvert entrances, as well as finalizing equipment testing at specific interchanges.

In Ho Chi Minh City, a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project commenced on August 29, 2026, to expand National Highway 13 from Binh Trieu Bridge to the former Binh Duong border. This 6,276 billion VND investment aims to expand the route to 10–14 lanes and includes a 3.75 km viaduct, with an expected completion date by the end of 2028. To manage traffic, authorities will renovate the Lai Thieu toll station with an automated collection system and reopen the intersection between National Highway 13 and the Phu Long Bridge access road by October 10.
