Vietnam-Russia aviation and tourism expansion
Overview
Vietjet announced an expansion of its flight network between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, including new routes to Moscow. This expansion, witnessed by Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, aims to facilitate tourism and economic-trade activities by connecting major Vietnamese tourism hubs with various Russian destinations.
Following these expansion plans, the first direct flight from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport to Khanh Hoa province arrived at Cam Ranh International Airport on September 23. The Moscow-Khanh Hoa route is scheduled to operate three times per week, with intentions to increase frequency to five flights per week by early 2027.
This development coincides with a significant rise in Russian tourism to the region; the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism reported that the province received over 851,000 Russian visitors during the first eight months of 2026, representing a more than threefold increase compared to the same period in 2025.
