Vietnam wood product export trends

Overview

Vietnam’s wood and wood product exports experienced growth in July 2026, reaching approximately $1.6 billion, an 8.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025. For the first seven months of the year, cumulative export turnover for the sector exceeded $10 billion, representing a 5.6% increase.

Market dynamics show a shift in demand. While the United States remains the largest market with about 50% of total turnover, exports to the U.S. fell by approximately 6% year-on-year. This decline follows a final determination by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding anti-dumping and countervailing duties on hard and decorative plywood from Vietnam. Although the final anti-dumping duty of 84.95% was lower than preliminary estimates, it remains a “substantial barrier for exporters.”

Conversely, exports to China and Japan have grown. Exports to China rose 46.4% in the first seven months, totaling over $1.5 billion, while exports to Japan increased by 6% compared to the previous year, totaling more than $1.26 billion.
