VIII International University Book Fair (Mexico)

Overview

In late July, the University of Valencia announced that its historic Biblioteca Històrica would send a selection of rare early printed works and manuscripts – including 15th‑ and 16th‑century codices, early Spanish prints and scientific treatises – to be displayed at the VIII International University Book Fair (FILUNI) in Mexico.

By early August the fair had opened at UNAM’s Center for Exhibitions and Congresses. The event hosted 77 exhibitors across 151 stands, offering more than 20,000 titles and nearly 100,000 copies. Programming highlighted topics such as Spanish exile in Mexico, sustainability, indigenous languages and peace culture, while the Valencia University collection formed a centerpiece of the exhibition.

Both snapshots document the same ongoing cultural event: the preparation and launch of the 2026 International University Book Fair in Mexico, illustrating its transition from a planned showcase of historic Spanish manuscripts to a large‑scale academic and publishing gathering.
