Scorpio wins the 82nd Viška regata
Overview
The 82nd Viška regata, an offshore sailing event between Split and Vis, concluded with the yacht Scorpio, helmed by Filip Babić from JK Marina Kaštela, taking the overall victory. The crew completed the Split–Vis–Split route in a total time of 10 hours, 40 minutes, and 5 seconds.
While the first stage saw high activity, the return leg was significantly impacted by difficult calm conditions, known as ‘bonaca’, in the Split Gates. This resulted in a sharp decline in participation for the final stretch, with only 24 of the original 163 boats completing the return stage.
Other category winners included Toto/Spg Tutta Trieste 2, helmed by Mario Hrvoje, in the Open Racing category; Vivid, helmed by Aleksandar Marić, in the Open Cruising class; and Farabut, helmed by Marko De Micheli, in the ORC category. The event featured a massive turnout of boats from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, and Montenegro.
