Vila de Rei drinking water quality compliance

Overview

The Municipality of Vila de Rei achieved a 100% compliance rate for drinking water quality indicators, according to an annual report from the Water and Waste Services Regulatory Authority (ERSAR). Based on data through late 2025, nearly three hundred parameters analyzed across the distribution network met all legal conformity standards. Councilor for Water Supply Miguel Silva attributed these results to recent investments in the renewal and rehabilitation of water supply infrastructure.

Following these results, ERSAR awarded the ‘Exemplary Water Quality Seal for Human Consumption 2026’ to the Municipality of Vila de Rei. The distinction was granted for maintaining high standards through rigorous operational control, infrastructure modernization, and consistent microbiological and physico-chemical monitoring. Vila de Rei was one of only 56 entities to receive the seal out of 223 evaluated.
