Vilnius school infrastructure development

Overview

Vilnius has initiated several new educational infrastructure projects to accommodate growing student populations and neighborhood expansions.

In September, construction commenced on a 480-seat gymnasium in the Verkių district on Mykolo Marcinkevičiaus Street. The 23.5 million EUR project is intended to serve students in the Jeruzalės, Santariškių, and Visorių areas. The facility will include a stadium, basketball and playground areas, and pedestrian paths, with completion expected by the end of 2027.

Following this, construction began on a new lower secondary school in the Pavilnys district on S. Lozoraičio Street. This marks the third school project started in the city within the year. Designed for nearly 1,000 students in grades 1–8, the complex will feature 32 classrooms, specialized science and arts studios, and a 25-meter swimming pool. This project is also slated for completion by the end of 2027.
